Nintendo Halloween costume ideas, anyone?

I might be late to the party, but tonight I stumbled across the most impressive fan-made cosplay of Samus’s Varia Suit I’ve ever seen, and with Halloween right around the corner, figured it would be fun to share. Nintendo costumes are now a dime a dozen, but it’s rare to find true quality in the sea of cheap knock-offs.

This impressive homage to our favorite bounty hunter took six months to create, and was made by the prolific Yuki Lefay. The attention to detail definitely gives the previous undisputed queen of the Varia Suit, Pixelninja, a run for her money. And needless to say, her take on the Zero Suit makes my earnest effort from Halloween ’08 pale in comparison.

Looking for more jaw-dropping inspiration for your Nintendo- or videogame-themed Halloween attire? Check out more of Yuki’s impressive repertoire below:

Zero Suit Samus, Varia Suit, and “corrupted” Samus (Metroid)

Midna (Zelda: Twilight Princess)

Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)

Aya Brea (Parasite Eve)

Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)

Ada Wong (mercernary),  Ada Wong (evening gown) (Resident Evil 4)

Jill Valentine (Resident Evil)

How about a more interesting topic. Top 10 Nintendo halloween games?

  2. When I was a kid, I went as Falco and Link (separate years, of course). I thought it would be funny if this year, I went as Mario and my baby nephew went as a mushroom.

Last year, my son went as Link. He’s thinking he wants to be “Dark Link” or Ganon this year. We’ll see what we can come up with for fabrics in order to do that.

Our neighbor friend is thinking about being Zelda.

A friend of mine came to a party dressed in a big foam rubber NES controller costume. Even the non-gamers knew exactly what he was!

For the last couple years I’ve been going as “cowboy link” of Twilight Princess fame.
It’s a home made costume complete with a full sized wooden sword, too. I’ll post some pictures if anyone want’s them.

I gotta mention one more–Saw this while taking my niece trick-or-treating a few years back in a very popular Halloween neighborhood (Lots of houses decorated full-tilt). We heard cheers ahead, and then this guy burst out of the crowd and ran past. He was wearing a great Mario costume, but he was also lit up with tiny gold blinking lights, and he had concealed speakers blaring the “Invincible Mario” theme as he ran. It was awesome!

Fangamer has everything necessary for a Ness costume, minus the shorts and backpack, both of which should be easy to find, and the red sneakers, but any pair of sneakers should suffice. And um, the socks I guess.

A friend and I are going to be Professor Layton and Luke.
