PR Newswire reports that Majesco has announced their popular MechAssault series is getting its first handheld installment. Developed by Backbone Entertainment, MechAssault: Phantom War for the DS (which isn’t a port of the Xbox versions) will utilize the dual screens in an interesting way. The top screen will display your havoc-wreaking mech in full 3D while the touch screen will be your cockpit view, from which you will “hack into giant ‘Mechs, eject pilots, switch weapons and check battle techniques.” Features include 24 single player campaigns scross 4 planets, 3 multiplayer modes for up to 4 players, over 20 vehicle types, and unlockable mechs and maps.
