The legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is a very contested entry in the series, some say its a much superior game then Ocarina of Time while others claim that the N64 classic is still the greatest Zelda tale ever told. I think Majora’s Mask is a much more experimental Zelda title and is a better game for it, with its constant three day routine and the continuous reminder of impending doom hanging from the sky in the form of a glaring moon.
Nintendo has been teasing a remake of this game since the annoucement of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D back in late 2010. If Nintendo are considering this it would be a golden opportunity to revamp the visuals and push them further then OoT3D did. Inventory management was an issue on the N64 but with the 3DS touchscreen switching between equipment and masks, which you will do very often, will be quick and easy. If and when Nintendo and, I am assuming, Grezzo create this remake I hope the game will gain the appreciation it needs to elevate it out of cult status.
The recent fact that the director of A Link Between Worlds was told by Eiji Aonuma’s production team to include the title item on the wall of Link’s house tells us that Nintendo is trying to make it leave a lasting impression at least.
Do you think the remake is in the works or is Nintendo just teasing whats possible?
