I think Nintendo should never release their games on Non-Nintendo systems. Investors are pretty short sighted when it comes to these things. Mario was also pressured to jump to Playstation back in the 90s. Sure Nintendo could do that and make a quick buck but it would devalue their own hardware. The investors are the people who convinced Nintendo to release the 3DS early and cause all these problems and now they want Iwata to leave Nintendo??!! Are they serious?
Plus anyone who thinks the 3DS is dead or irrelevant should watch this video

As for a scoring system, I would simply do a “Thumb’s Up” or “Thumb’s Down” after the review. Let the review decide.
Again, though, as Derek said, it falls on the writer to make a review concise and to-the-point. There’s no reason to spend three paragraphs telling the story, the controls, or such unless they are a big issue.

When Blake said “liberal”, I thought he was talking about Derek for a second.

Great show… and thanks for the shout out!
As for the reason Wii is not finishing strong: I think you forgot to mention what I think is really the biggest reason… a weak online infrastructure! Back in 2006, when the Wii launched, a weak online experience was not in most consumers’ minds, but as the years passed by, consumers demand more and more a robust online experience and community from their gaming devices, something Nintendo has only approach as an afterthought.
The danger is that Nintendo still hasn’t tackled the online issue full-front, and that spelled doom for the 3DS and will surely do the same for the Wii U if they don’t get their act together in that area…
