Daedalic bringing “eco-thriller” to Wii in 2009

anbpic.jpgGerman developer Daedalic Entertainment released information today about A New Beginning, an “eco-thriller” in development for a 2009 release on PC, Wii and DS.

From the press release:

“The year 2050: The cities of the world lie in ruins. Catastrophic climate change, long prophesized,
has devastated the world with fatal consequences. In a flooded San Francisco, time pilot Fay overlooks the magnitude of the destruction. Sent from a distant future to avert the evisceration of mankind, she is faced with the horrible realization that it is already too late. The last hope for salvation is another desperate leap back in time to our present!

In the eco-thriller A New Beginning from Daedalic Entertainment, Fay teams up with scientist Bent Svensson to try and stem the tide. Players will experience an absorbing adventure about the most important issue of our times. At locations around the globe, it is up to them to change the course of history ”“ with the whole world hanging in the balance.

Backgrounds like the devastated skyline of San Francisco are constructed from more than 20 2D layers to ensure a realistic sense of depth and high level of detail. More than 130 locations make A New Beginning one of the largest adventure games in recent years. The more than 30 characters are rendered in a realistic 2D style and are painstakingly animated by hand in feature film quality.

The classic point & click adventure game from Daedalic Entertainment is set for release on PC, Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii in 2009.”
