Word on the street is that classic Nintendo games may get a new look when downloaded from the upcoming Revolution service.
Saturo Iwata said, “We are doing several experiments, including working with the original Super Mario Bros., with the new technology. The game itself and the gameplay shall be identical, but the look will be different; it’s possible that with Revolution, we may be able to see the old games with new looks.”
Zelda and Mario remakes? I’m on board. Maybe this in itself is nothing revolutionary, but a return to fun and creative gaming could be the revolution Nintendo is shooting for.

if they allow both the original and revised versions to be downloaded thats fine. i think it would be fun to play a bunch of classic games we all grew up with in a new visual style. but only so long as i can play the original unaltered versions as well. if they try to squeeze money out by selling two versions that might be a bit shady…they’d have to work out some kind of scheme people will dig.

I think it’s great to use new technology to enhance old games….
I hope they add Anti-Aliasing to the N64 games, maybe even longer view distance…
But I have absolutely no idea haow they want to change SMB…..
As long as the gameplay stays the same and everything is true to the original I don’t care 😀

I’m fine with enhasing the originals as long as they don’t change gameplay. I hate super mario all stars redo. The graphics were great and all but I hate the way mario felt when controlling him. I just bought the original Mario Bros 1 and 3. They play much better then the all star version.
The N64 games need a resolution upgraded. They look pretty bad on my 27″ TV but when I play them on my husbands old Commodore 14″ monitor they look amazing. Nintendo already did this for the Zelda collection for Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask for the Game Cube. Nintendo changed the resolution to 640x480p from the original 320x240i. It looks alot crisper and smoother.
Other then that I’m really looking forward to play the classic games.

sorry, I don’t like enhanced games, point in case is the super mario all-star game.
graphics were OK, but the sound was terribly wrong.
please, Nintendo, keep the games in the original state AND release if you must an enhanced version and let the customer decide.

You didn’t like SMB All Stars? I thought it played perfectly… :/
