More hot air from MS about a Wii60 Xmas

Oh Microsoft, if you weren’t such an evil empire overall I think I could honestly respect what your games division is trying to accomplish with the Xbox 360. Aside from those cheesey MTV marketing specials and world domination, of course. Via Next Generation and MS’s Peter Moore: “Dual platform ownership of Xbox 360 and Wii could be as high as 40% depending on what territory we are tal...

Nintendo, the Wii, and the gamer as designer

Who knew something as simple as designing a Mii character could get BusinessWeek off on a tangernt about Web 2.0 and “user-generated content?” Regardless, the article and the Web 2.0 buzzword thing got me thinking: Could gaming resemble YouTube someday? Well, not all of it, but could one day there be a “developer channel” in amongst the Wii Channels we’ll all experien...

Banjo-Kazooie jumps to Xbox 360

Today in Barcelona, at its X06 media briefing, Microsoft announced that Rare, Nintendo’s ex-lover, is making a new Banjo-Kazooie game for the Xbox 360. The bird and bear platforming duo will set out on their first non-Nintendo adventure, with “new next-gen visuals and presentation as well as their sharp wit and hilarious sense of humor.” I dunno if I consider burping, fart jokes,...

"Wii is just like a member of the family!" (with Friend Codes…)

The recently translated interview between Iwata and his team of Nintendo engineers has been an interesting insight into what has gone into this new console. Today, another portion has been translated for the non-Japanese speaking public that covers the Wii Message Board. Or, as I like to call it now in a fit of dorkdom: One Wii Channel to rule them all. I say that because the interview shows this ...

Reginator to hand out the first Wii’s on November 19

As part of what has become your “typical” Nintendo interview these days (the console is different, it’s for everyone, and it’s going to be easy to use and fun), Reggie Files-Aim gave ABC News a bit of a scoop when he told them he would be handing out the first Wii consoles to some lucky gamers at the Nintendo World Store in New York City at midnight on November 19. Unfortun...

Wii Opera browser to be FREE until July 2007

Nintendo and Opera are giving away the Wii browser for FREE until July 2007 as a special worldwide promotion. After which the browser will be sold on the Wii Shop Store for an undetermined amount of Wii points. While the gesture is nice, unless web browsing on Wii offers a more valuable experience than my trusty mouse and keyboard, I’ll be using my Wii exclusively for gaming.

Poll – Nintendo emulation

Playing classic Nintendo games is about to get a lot easier thanks to the Virtual Console. Of course, one could always find other ways to enjoy their old favorites. This week’s poll asks: Have you ever played classic Nintendo games on an emulator? Yes No What the heck are you talking about? [Special thanks to everyone who voted in our last poll. Wii makes Toys R Us "Hot List"

Aeropause let everyone know today that the Wii has made the illustrious Toys R Us “Hot List.” It’s yet another example of how Nintendo has slowly but surely started to take over the entire world. Errm, or maybe the gaming industry — again. “This year’s, ‘Hot Toy’ list is out for Toys ‘R’ Us and only one console is on it, the Nintendo Wii....
