Harry Potter Wii graphics do not disappoint

What can I say? This thing looks really good. Best looking game on Wii perhaps? Call it EA redemption for the slew of poopsky looking games to date. And though not identicle to the more powerful 360 and PS3, I’d argue the above lessens the gap. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix hits Wii on June 25. [via Definitive Speculation]

Nintendo through the Ages (and Colors)

Color Lovers examine Nintendo colors through the ages. It’s a pretty cool little piece contrasting the differences from the NES to Wii. Excerpt: “While controllers have seemingly become just more complicated and the games just the same, what’s been interesting to watch is the evolution of graphics over gameplay, specifically with Nintendo, the longest running console manufacturer...

Assassin’s Creed on Wii “Totally out of the question”

Assassin’s Creed, one of my most anticipated games of the year, just lost any chance it had (if any) at making its way onto Wii. Said producer Jade Raymond in speaking to Game Informer, “[A Wii version] is totally out of the question. You would have to change the gameplay completely. Our mandate was to deliver a game that wouldn’t be possible on a previous system… gameplay ...

There are gobs of promising Wii games coming

The recent July issue of Nintendo Power is the best issue I’ve read since first resubscribing a year ago. The thing is packed to the gills with promising Wii games and pretty much kills the conventional wisdom that Wii is only good for party-games. Granted, announcements and previews do not a great final game make, but I’m giddy at the prospects of all the games profiled. Says Managing...

Famitsu lauds RE4 Wii Edition with high marks

IGN is reporting that Famitsu magazine likies Resident Evil 4 on Wii. Like, likie a lot. The reviewers noted that while the content is almost the same as the GameCube original, the direct Wiimote-based controls offer a plus, making the game feel like something fresh and different. One reviewer said that the game offers the feeling of being closer to the action as well as upping the tension… ...

Where has all the good video game music gone?

It’s not often one comes across good original video game music. The last memorable (and new) score I think I heard was Shadow of the Colossus from 2005… until today. Enter my new favorite (what I think is) orignal game music; the Dinner Dash: Sizzle & Serve theme for DS. While I can’t speak for the game (out tomorrow, preview here, and it sounds cool), the music is just bangi...

See a slew of Nintendo Power covers

Just days after rumors that Nintendo Power may get the axe, a kind gentlemen on Flickr has uploaded about 50 Nintendo Power covers from years past. Click on through to take a trip down memory lane. My favorite from the batch is at your right.

Massive Ninty game updates (Metroid, Strikers, Smash Bros.)!

Got a handful of Ninty game updates for you on this fine Teusday. First up. New Metroid Prime 3 screens. We normally don’t post screenshots, but hey, it’s Metroid! Next up, got a UK advert for the fun looking Mario Strikers. I’ve said it a thousand times, but previews have only good things to say about this game. Hopefully online play delivers as well. And lastly, Super Smash Bro...

Monday thoughts: Why do you love Nintendo?

So this will be my first in a weekly series of columns on various topics. For the first edition I pose a simple question with an answer that might not come to you so easily. Its Monday morning. You’ve already scoured the inter-tube looking for a listing of the VC releases this week. You’ve called Game/stop/crazy/ware to see if any early DS titles have been released. You’ve adjust...
