Review: Zack & Wiki: The Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure

For a moment in late December, and just for a moment, I was transported back in time more than 15 years to a period in my life when desktop computer towers had Turbo buttons, clocked out at around 44 MHz and even the nails-on-chalkboard ping of a consumer-grade 14.4 modem was still a twinkle in some telcom engineer’s eye. It was, truly, a frightening time with much uncertainty. But this mome...

Nintendo to Microsoft: No Goldeneye for you!

Word on the digital street is that Nintendo is playing the no soup for you card on Microsoft as it pertains to that golden goodie, Goldeneye. IGN brings word today that Factor 5, once critical of Wii’s paltry graphics, is now making an unannounced Wii game without using GameCube tech. Not only did Factor 5 work with Nintendo to develop GameCube’s audio solution, but it pushed the console harder on a graphics level than just about every other studio, Nintendo included. Bearing that in mind, fans can rest assured that whatever...

Top Spin Wii controls still sound bogus, man

Last August, I criticized 2K Games’ decision to use both the Nunchuck and Wii Remote on the upcoming Top Spin Tennis game, scheduled for release this spring. Without trying 2K’s setup, I’m convinced the wired Nunchuck will impede full swings while nerding out.
