XSEED picks up Fragile for stateside release

“Since the original game is set in Japan, we’re keeping it that way for the North American version, as well,” says Hosoi. “The Japanese voice actors are very good, as usual, so we’ll have our work cut out for us to try to match their quality.”

The Japanese work is reportedly so good, in fact, XSEED has asked developer tri-Crescendo to add a language option to Fragile, allowing stateside players to choose between English or Japanese audio.

“Nothing is certain yet, but I’m sure they will do everything possible to add that option in,” says Hosoi. “So keep your fingers crossed.”

Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon is coming to Wii this winter in North America

Players who enjoy an engaging story should find plenty to like about Fragile. The game tells the story of Seto, a young boy utterly alone in a post-apocalyptic world. He searches the lifeless world for survivors, cutting through darkness with only a flashlight and hope.

Eventually, Seto finds a mysterious girl named Ren—seemingly the only other living person on the planet, Seto becomes infatuated with her. But the two are separated, and Seto, desperate to recover his companion, is left to search a vast, desolate world filled with ghosts and demons to find Ren and, ultimately, reveal mankind’s downfall.

“We’re trying to get some additional content, as the development team seems to be really enthusiastic about their game getting released in North America,” says Hosoi. “But (it’s) too early to tell if scheduling and technical issues may prevent it or not at this point.”

Fragile joins an impressive XSEED Wii roster that includes games like Rune Factory Frontier and the yet-to-release Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga, Arc Rise Fantasia and Little King’s Story. XSEED also announced Saturday an exclusive Wii horror game based on the popular Japanese horror film Ju-On: The Grudge.

Expect more on Fragile in the months leading to its winter release.
