Wii Channel Issues – Zooming Slowly

Mym6 of the Infendo Forums is currently experiencing a little problem with his Nintendo Wii and the way Channels Zoom in.

I’m curious if anyone else has noticed this.  Some channels will zoom in very slowly.  My Mario Kart and Nintendo Channels both zoom in very slowly compared to others.  If I move those channels to a blank screen they zoom quickly again.

I haven’t noticed this on my system but I’m wondering if anyone else on Infendo knows of a way to fix it.

  1. Looks to be a RAM or processor issue to me, Those first 2 pages have a lot going on while the last 2 pages are empty and the mario kart channel probably needs to load more data in that zoom than the faster zooming channels.

My suggestion would be to try re-arangeing some of your channels so there is not so much stuff happening at the same time when you cue up a channel.

  2. Maybe move some of the less used channels to the second or third page?

I technically keep my system like this, and I haven’t run into a zooming issue.

    Page 1
Disc Channel, Internet Channel, Nintendo Channel, Wii Shop,
Wii Ware, Wii Ware, Wii Ware, Wii Ware,
    =

    Page 2
Virtual Console, Virtual Console, Virtual Console, Virtual Console,
    =

    Page 3
    Extra Channels

    Page 4
Unused Original Channels (Mii Channel, and other ones I can’t delete)

  3. “lay off the boot.dol’s and homebrew”

  4. Mine will do something like that with Mario Kart Channel and another one. Kinda acts like the old NES when you had too many sprites moving on the screen.

Also, check the location of your Wii and make sure it’s getting enough fresh air. A hot system will run slowly.

  5. Mine does that, too sometimes. The music also occasionally skips ahead, too.

  6. Thanks for the tips guys. I was more curious if others saw the same behavior or not. I didn’t think it’d become a front page news 🙂

  7. Also, the title of this post makes me start singing some Taranchula: “Movin’ very slowly!

  8. Mine does the same with the mario kart channel. I hope Nintendo will have a fix to this.

  9. ive not experienced anything like it, maybe its to do with the amount of moving animations inside the wii channel frames at the same time …?
