Good question. We all love playing video games, but very rarely know the people that make them. If you love RPG’s, no doubt you have played a game that Kazuhiko Aoki has been involved in. He has been with Square-Enix (formerly Square Co., Ltd.) for more than 20 years, and has worked on games ranging from Final Fantasy III for the NES to Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for the Gamecube. His biggest claim to fame is being the Producer of Chrono Trigger, arguably the best role playing game of all time.
We don’t know a lot about this RPG legend, but he has a lot of influence in more ‘traditional’ Final Fantasy games. Regarding the series, Aoki commented “Since the series tends to be story driven, I wanted to balance the story with the traditional gameplay of an RPG.” He is currently working on the battle system for Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS, a battle system he was responisble for many years ago. Whenever we see an “old school” RPG bearing the Final Fantasy name, it is safe to assume that Aoki is either directing it or playing a large role.
