Watch Warren Spector talk about Epic Mickey 2

Epic Mickey was one of the better games of 2010 for Wii and because of that it is getting a sequel, and this time not just for Wii. Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two will be released later this fall, and will be released on the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. Warren Spector will again be head designer for the game, as Junction Point Studios looks to take the game to a whole new level by making the game a musical.

Spector has said that the game is being worked on by over 700 people around the world, hopefully meaning the quality of the sequel will be even higher than its predecessor.

What do you think? Will you be picking the game up, and if so, on what console?

Wii’s the only non-handheld gaming device I own, so Wii it is. The original was one of Wii’s best-looking games, so if it keeps that level of visual quality, it should be great.

Epic Mickey had all the right ingredients (and most of it was great) but was held back by odd pacing, tons of backtracking, a horrible camera and some of the most tedious chores and fetch-quests I’ve ever encountered in a game (did anyone like the bit in Adventureland where you had to find all the invisible plants?)

If they truly tackle this game with the goal of fixing everything that was less-than-stellar in part one, I’ll be right on board at launch. What I’ve heard so far — a camera that requires no player input, voices for all in-game characters, more twisted versions of Disneyland rides, Mickey and Oswald working together throughout — sounds great.

Can’t wait to learn what will be included in the CE this time around!

The first Epic Mickey was so spectacular. I didn’t mind the fetch quest toward the end of the game at all. The only dissappointment I had with the game, was the damn camera. I almost gave up when I was at the Mad Doctor boss fight. Died so many times because I couldn’t see what I was doing, or couldn’t shoot the enemy who was not on the screen.

I’ll wait for the Power of Illusion game and see if that’s any good. I don’t often buy games that are multi platform.
