There have been many great video game soundtracks to come out over the years, and we hear at Infendo like to honor them through our Nintentunes segment on the Infendo Radio Podcast!

Today we are going to highlight another fantastic soundtrack! This time, the game come to us from the 16-bit era in the fantastic Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island!

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island is considered by many to be the pinnacle of 16-bit platforming. Personally, I feel the original Super Mario World is the better game, but there is no denying that the music is top notch.

Koji Kondo really knocked it out of the park, as he always does, with the Yoshi’s Island. There is something to be said about what the composers were able to produce within the limitations of the 16 and 8-bit eras, but Kondo also rose to the occasion.

If you haven’t played Yoshi’s Island, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. The game still holds up, and is enjoyable even in an age of 100 new indie platformers releasing seemingly every week. At the very least go listen to music from the game, and other soundtracks from Koji Kondo.
