Review: WarioWare D.I.Y. Showcase, Essential Companion to the DS Counterpart

DIYShowcaseLogo First, a disclaimer: before playing WarioWare D.I.Y. Showcase, I had never played a WarioWare game before in my life. However, I have to say that my first experience with this franchise was definately a positive one.

WarioWare D.I.Y. Showcase for WiiWare is an excellent companion piece to WarioWare D.I.Y. for the Nintendo DS. This game will allow you to sync up your DS game to the Wii, and play your created games (along with over 50 preprogrammed games and downloadable ones from wifi) on the Wii. The pick-up-and-play nature of the game makes it easy to learn, but difficult to master.

WMAMIOS Within the preprogrammed games, there are four different themed sets with their own animations. My personal favorites were the Wario Man (where you try and rescue kids who are desperately trying to get into locked bathroom stalls before they wet themselves) and 18 Volt (where to play a bunch of 8-bit era Nintendo themed games) sets. My only wish was that you could use these animations when playing your own uploaded stuff instead of the generic TV.

SRAITaJcCLGHgd90nF7-2ti-oYJYGtvD The verdict: this is definately a no-brainer if you’re loving the companion game for Nintendo DS. However, without that game, its still a pretty decent game. If you are trying to decide whether or not you should pick up the DS version, download this first and give it a shot. It will feel like you’re playing a DS game with sub-par DS graphics on the Wii, but that comes with the style of WarioWare D.I.Y. on the DS.
