After months of speculation and rumor about a delay, Nintendo today confirmed to the eager masses that its Wii MotionPlus 1:1 motion control accessory will arrive in June for Japan, and July for North America and Europe.
The official announcement was made by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata during, of all things, an address at The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan.
The exact release date will be announced “later.” June/July would seem to suggest the rumors were largely true in this case, as Nintendo has unofficially acknowledged it will miss the original “spring” release window touted last year. But if that means they delayed it to tweak the product to perfection, in typical Nintendo fashion, so be it. That has been, and always will be, Nintendo’s way.
