As part of an “Emergency Maintenance” procedure, Some of Nintendo’s online services will be down for a period of time. Although it is not uncommon for an online gaming community to be inaccessible during maintenance, it can be a bit of an inconvenience. Nintendo released the following statement in regards to the maintenance.
“During the emergency maintenance, parts of the affected services may be intermittently unavailable.”
Obviously it does not tell us what the emergency is, however I hope it is proactive and not reactive maintenance.
