It looks like the rumor started by UK mag, NGC, is in fact just a rumor. Nintendo recently told Eurogamer: “The article in the January edition of NGC Magazine is pure speculation. Nintendo has made no new announcements regarding The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. We can however confirm that the game is still in development and that it will launch on Nintendo GameCube in 2006.”
There you have it. Whatever happens, just give us the game already.

Warlord
ha, sure it was
i said it before =P
I do not know why people still believes in these stupid speculations
Chris
As CVG points out, Nintendo didn’t deny anything. They just made sure everyone knew they hadn’t officially announced it yet.
I think integrating the Rev controller into TP would be very very Nintendo-like, so I still think they’re going to. But it won’t bother me if they don’t.
InvisibleMan
Here’s another speculation (this one is ALL mine!):
Since the Revolution will play all the GameCube games, wouldn’t there be an option in a setup screen in the Rev to assign the GameCube controller actions to the Rev remote controller? That would make ALL GC games compatible with the new controller, right?!?
Albo
InvisibleMan, I don’t think that would be a smart idea. I think the could schemes they could retrofit onto existing games would undermine the potential of the device and hurt the cause. People won’t be saying “Man, I can’t wait to see how this thing works with Smash Bros” they’ll be saying “Man, I played Smash Bros with this new controller and boy does it blow.”
Rollin
Chris has the right idea. We knew NGC was speculating to its actions in the game, they made that clear. That’s all Nintendo commented on. They didn’t say it’s not true.
Frisby
Yeah so once again the title should have a question mark on it.
