Marvelous Interactive, the Japanese developer of the arguably unique ‘Harvest Moon’ series, has announced a new title for the DS, known as Rune Factory. In what is described as “Harvest Moon where you wield a sword” by producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto, this game will allow you to capture monsters, raise them on your farm, and then add them to your adventuring party. It’s part of the “New Harvest Moon” series, which differs from the traditional farming simulation gameplay of the original games.
The DS release is planned for sometime in 2006.

Outstanding. Pokemon meets FF meets Harvest Moon? I think so.

I’m interested in this one. The RPG/farm sim thing is totally intriguing.

Holy awesome. I already loved Harvest Moon enough–but an online HM/Pokemon game? It strikes me as slightly odd, though, that Harvest Moon is beating Pokemon, of all things, to the online arena.

The publishers of Harvest Moon are making a new game about Harvest Moon except it’s galactic and it’s on the PSP
