In Hyrule, Zelda means "delayed"

It was once rumored that some of the signposts and glyphs in Zelda titles could be deciphered into Japanese, and then by further translation into English equivalents. If we assume that’s all true, then I’d like to take a guess at what the word Zelda might mean.

“Delayed.”

Game Informer (via The Hylia) is reporting that Phantom Hourglass has has been pushed back from “early 2007” all the way to October 15th, 2007. There are also rumors the game is getting a major reworking since E3.

But, all is not lost Infendo. In the same breath that would have yet another Zelda title delayed, Game Informer also lets us know that a true Wii Zelda has been in the works for the past year. Could this be the version that proves Miyamoto correct when he said Twilight Princess was the last Zelda title as we know it? We’ll know as soon as it comes out, which I predict could be 2008 or 2009, just in time to be reworked and updated with the Wii 2’s new total body, haptics-based control scheme.
