NYC Miyamoto Interview

Kotaku had the pleasure of talking with Nintendo’s Miyamoto over the weekend. If you’ve got some time to kill, and want to work on your Japanese, right click to save. Nothing really new but it does reiterate Nintendo’s stance on how to break into a larger game segment and how the industry has evolved.[Source: Kotaku]

Madden Glitch

Due to a bug in a roster update for Electronic Arts’ popular “Madden 2006,” New York Jets lineman Michael King can appear as a mere 7 inches tall. I also hear Madden is crashing PSP’s left and right in franchise mode. What’s with all the football bugs? What are some of your all-time favorite video game glitches? [Source: Cnet]

Lost in Blue (DS)

Lost in Blue for the Nintendo DS goes live today in the US. Although Game Rankings only has two reviews of the game, Nintendo Power gave it an 8/10. Looks like the DS has yet another solid game on it’s hands courtesy of Konami. I’ll be posting impressions after I get into the game.

Miyamoto Disses Some Dude

Apparently, some guy over the weekend tried to get Shiggy to sign a PSP at his NYC appearance. Miyamoto, or at least his rep had the last laugh though. Once they informed him that Shiggy would only be signing “Nintendo products” the kid sheepishly had Miyamoto sign his DS instead. Just disrespectful. But you gotta respect the kid’s cojones. It would have gone for a nice price on ...

Looking Forward: What’s Next

by Nicholas RoussosAt the Tokyo Gaming Show, Nintendo grabbed the lime light with its unprecedented new take on the console controller. With the first solid impression of where Nintendo wants to take us with this generation, everyone’s mind has begun to wander with possibilities. Many are discussing how the new “freehand-style” control scheme will affect their favorite genres (FP...

One Hand Gaming

Gizmodo has a nice write up on the potential effect the new revolution controller could have on gaming. In referring to the new one-handed controller they say “Nintendo is advancing the industry by making the technology more approachable to a larger audience. Remember this moment years from now when you are about to ”˜toss’ off a phone call or ”˜flip’ through a chat room. Nintend...

New Micro Commercial

What do you think of the new Micro commercial? I’m thinking it’s a little on the week side. Pink is cool and all, but that much pink should never be mixed with video games. It’s overkill. Just stick with black and silver if you ask me (not that you did). I guess it does point out that Ninny’s pitching it to a different audience though. [Source: 1up]

Mario Kart Arcade GP

As many of you know, Mario Kart is coming to the Arcade. Although I stopped going to them back when SNES hit it’s stride (home consoling was just so good then), this game should be pretty fun. I can’t quite figure out the business logic behind the move though other than a new twist on a classic multiplayer game. Being jointly developed with Namco the unit will let you “insert you...

Iwata Quotes?

[Update: Looks like this is a quote from MS’s Peter Moore not Iwata. Now that sounds about right.] I’ve never heard any mention of Nintendo President Iwata bringing home the Xbox 360 to his wife much to her liking but Gamer Lounge is reporting that this in fact happened. They go on to quote Iwata as saying that he thought a “digital entertainment center” might be what’...

Hollywood Gaming Grows Up

Wired has a nice article on how the movie industry is now portraying gamers rather than how they did back in The Wizard days. The reason? “Today’s young directors are the first crew to have grown up with a Nintendo system — and gaming is no longer foreign to them.” Know your roots. [Source: Wired]
