What are the most purchased Virtual Console games?

According to a NeoGAF survey, the top selling game is Bonk’s Adventure followed by Mario 64 with TurboGrafx games rounding out three of the top five games. Either people are more excited with traditionally less accessible Hudson games, or they just seem “newer” to most. I know they seem newer to me having never owned a TG-16. So what VC games have you bought so far? [via Game|Lif...

Wii internet surfing coming December 23?

Wii internet surfing may have been dated today, at least for our friends in Sweden. NWR reports: “The official Nintendo website of Sweden posted a short announcement today stating that the Wii Internet Channel will go live on December 23rd. The Internet Channel is powered by the Opera web browser and will be available for download from the Wii Shop Channel (free until June 2007).” I...

1UP previews Zelda: Twilight Princess on GameCube

1UP previews the Japanese retail vesion of Zelda: Twilight Princess for GameCube, the platform it was originally slated for. From the preview: “Surprisingly, I had no problem slipping back into the “old” controls, and in some instances, actually preferred them. Granted, shooting down targets with the Slingshot feels nice on Wii (all you do is aim at the screen), but on GameCube, ...

I finally got the goods on the artist behind the Wii commercial music. The song name is Kodo (Inside the Sun remix) by Yoshida Brothers off their 2004 Vol. 2 album. Just downloaded it in all its MP3 goodness off iTunes. As Silent K said on the last Infendo Radio show, it’s an addictive riff indeed. Rock out! BUY NOW: iTunes Amazon [via AdTunes]

Nintendo hoping to beat Wii, DS expectations

Reuters interviewed Nintendo President Satoru Iwata today and reports that the game maker may beat fiscal expectations for both the Wii and DS, 6 million and 20 million sold respectively. The article also suggests Wii sales have not cannibalized DS sales as some analysts believed. Translation: Early demand for the Wii and continued demand for the DS mean good things for the company’s bank ac...

Wii Sports outsells Zelda in Japan

The Japanese apparently have had as much fun snapping off furious forehand winners as I have had over the past weeks, as Wii Sports outsold The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on launch weekend (remember, it’s not bundled there). In numbers released today, Nintendo said it has sold 370,000 Wii Sports units over the launch weekend. Twilight Princess sold 140,000 copies. This news came as N...

Sony: The Wii is more fun

Yup. A Sony exec said that. But let’s put it context, ok? The guy was obviously drunk. What? He wasn’t? Hmm. Ok, we can still keep this in perspective without going off on a tirade, I’m sure of it. Nic Foster, general manager for Sony Australia & New Zealand, take it away: “The Wii-type functionality is more just a sub-element of what the PlayStation 3 offers,” he...

USB drives for Wii a reality afterall?

Those USB slots on the back of the Wii are an enigmatic duo aren’t they? A mystery wrapped in a riddle topped with a secret. Why? Because so far they’re like that expansion slot on the bottom of the SNES — no one really knew what the heck it’s there for. But today, some techie far smarter than I has figured a way to make 120 GB USB drives synch up with the Wii so that the s...
