Captain Rainbow is too weird for an audience, but there may still be hope

You’ve probably seen the videos already, so I’ll say what others have probably thought: Captain Rainbow is too weird for an audience.  This is supported by evidence that the game only sold 6,361 copies in its first week of release in Japan.  It’s scheduled for a summer EU release and there’s no word of it coming to the Americas.

I’m a huge fan of quirky games like Captain Rainbow (or its developer’s classic Chibi-Robo) and think there’s still hope for them.  WiiWare would be the perfect place for oddball games that push the boundaries of storytelling or style.

Would you be more willing to take a chance on a strange game like Captain Rainbow if the price was right on the Wii Shop Channel?
