Bye Bye Booth Babes?

As E3 2006 approaches, an era begins to come to a close. Starting this year – it seems that the scantily clad women, known as “booth babes”, will no longer be allowed. GAF is reporting that the exhibitor’s handbook for this year’s convention reads:

“Material, including live models, conduct that is sexually explicit and/or sexually provocative, including but not limited to nudity, partial nudity and bathing suit bottoms, are prohibited on the Show floor, all common areas, and at any access points to the Show. ESA, in its sole discretion, will determine whether material is acceptable.”

  1. Oh, I’m sure they’ll bend themselves right around those rules. Plenty of ways to sell things using sex without gratuitous skin showing.

p.s. Is that a new favicon for Infendo?

  2. good. Naked chicks distract form the games. Plus my wife won’t mind me watching e3 footage as much.

  3. What? Electronic ENTERTAINMENT expo! Scantily clad women entertain!

    Actually, I don’t really care.

I think its good that they are toning it down a notch. If I want to see TnA I can goto a strip joint, if I want to see new games I’ll goto E3.

  5. Thank god people are sensible here at Infendo. I’m glad to see that people see that E3 should be about games, not objectifying women.

  6. i agree with everyone here, E3 has become a bit of just a flashy mtv like event, edging itself away from the games itself, but as a guy that is about to lose his job due to company wide closings i feel somewhat sorry to the girls that expected to get a paying job.

You’d think atleast they could do is not have them dress up so revealing or something. I mean you can have a good looking woman without having them wear skin tight clothing and bikinis

    I think that’s exactly what they’re doing.

  8. I’m glad they’re going to enforce their guidelines more strickly on the matter of booth babes. I mean I confess I like looking at booth babes pics, but otherwise they have no reason for being at a games expo. Also the booth babe is really a silly outdated idea of the 20th century and is such a stereotypical American thing to have. Good riddence! ^_^
