Blast Works is too hard to review

Blast Works Wii

I understand that Blast Works is supposed to be all about building and trading ships, levels, etc online. It seems to have a very nice system in place to do that. My struggle, though, was in actually playing the game part of this title.

In the Campaign and Arcade modes, your vehicle can shoot other vehicles and it looks a lot like a side scrolling shoot ’em up. After other vehicles are destroyed, their tumbling carcasses can be added to your vehicle if you touch them. This allows you to add their weapons firing in various directions, depending on how they’re angled when you bump into them. It’s a great idea and well executed, but the levels were just too hard for me to get through. I had to fly the first mission four times before I beat the main boss. I don’t know if my brain isn’t wired for it or what.

Overall, Blast Works seems like a four-star dream to SHMUP and level editing addicts, but for me it was too tough to get very far. I’m hesitant to give it a score, so I want to know what you think. Have you played Blast Works?  Please, share your thoughts in our comments.
