Analysts deem Wii early winner of console war

The Toronto Star reports on the overwhelming analyst majority and consumer buzz suggesting that Wii is the early winner of the console war. Said Kotaku editor Brian Crecente: “Anecdotally, the Wii certainly has beaten the PS3 over the holiday… The people purchasing the Wii seem to be more happy with their purchase than the people who purchased the PS3.”

This is good news for Nintendo enthusiasts for obvious reasons: positive buzz drives more sales and developer interest; higher sales and greater developer interest means a larger install base; and a larger install base leads to more games (read: less chance of a game drought) and hopefully more innovative ways of playing. Rinse and repeat. So let’s just hope Nintendo, in addition to third-party developers, consistently deliver engaging games throughout the Wii’s lifecycle. Git’r done.
