Analyst: New DS to launch within 15 months

fortune teller

Jesse Divnich, an analyst (see: seer) for Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR), is predicting that because of “aging technology, the possibility of new competitors in 2011, a decline in publisher support and piracy, Nintendo will launch a successor to the DS within the next 15 months, and likely announce such in the next eight months.”

While this is just another analyst, it seems that many of these analysts and even fans are in agreement with one thing. Timing. Divnich points out that “one of the biggest reasons for Nintendo’s success in the handheld market is their ability to remove opportunity gaps for competitors to enter.” The DS beat the PSP to the chase, so will the DS’ successor beat whatever Sony or Microsoft have up their sleeves to store shelves?
