GameStop and Best Buy have recently listed Ubisoft’s ambitious and hotly anticipated open world action-adventure title Watch Dogs on their websites for pre-order on the Wii U. This rumor has not been officially confirmed by any of the higher ups at Ubisoft; however, more clues point to a leaked Watch Dogs poster that suggests that the game will be coming to all platforms for Holiday 2013.
First unveiled at E3 2012, Watch Dogs was praised for its “next-gen”-quality visuals and gameplay emphasis on hacking and surveillance. The immediate praise earned the title various awards including a Best of Show award from GamingExcellence. According to creative director Jonathan Morin, the game is designed to “go beyond the limits of today’s open world games. As one of the most talked about games at last year’s E3 Expo, a Watch Dogs’ release on the Wii U was never mentioned as a possibility, given the game’s graphical power and how it would perform on Nintendo’s newest platform.
Considering how the Wii U is not in the best of financial states now, would a multiplatform Watch Dogs release (along with holding up to its 360 and PS3 counterparts) ease the tension between Nintendo and third parties? Discuss.
