What games are you playing?
Thursday, November 6th, 2008 at 11:54am by Blake
Hey everyone, what games have you been playing lately? I finally finished World of Goo and am thinking of going through it a second time. I’m also in the mood for a little Kart, which I haven’t played in months. What about you?

November 6th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
WORLD TOUR.
And I just started Mother 3… damn it’s good.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
I put a lot of new purchases on back burner recently(de Blob, WarioLand) and have been spending some time with the Art Style series, World of Goo, and Strong Bad.
I also recently started playing Mario RPG’s in the hopes of finishing them all before the release of Mario & Luigi 3: Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and Super Paper Mario
November 6th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Lots and lots of Guitar Hero World Tour!
As soon as I can, I’ll pick up Strong Bad 3.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
On my PC - Sacred
On the Wii - World of Goo
On my GBA - Fire Emblem: the Sacred Stones
November 6th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

Strong Bad #3, Guitar Hero World Tour, and just started in on Time Hollow for DS (which is surprisingly well put together and compelling).
I just got the free Mario Kart Wii guide for renewing my Nintendo Power subscription, so I’ve been tempted to dig back into that game as well.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
I just scored myself a GB Micro (which is an AWESOME device, btw), so I guess I’ll be playing Wario Ware Twisted and more Chu Chu Rocket.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Just started Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life on the GameCube.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Wii Music….. fun making my friends miis do the Tango…cha cha cha
November 6th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
Guitar Hero: World Tour on the Wii, and Ninjatown on the DS.
Ninjatown is awesome!
November 6th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
I’m playing a bit of Wii Music with my kids. I actually dig it.
Mario Kart is always in the mix. I think the tournaments that Nintendo sends out each month are a thing of beauty. Really lend longevity to the game.
And I just dusted off Super Mario Galaxy again. Still have like 25 stars to get or something.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
DS- Castlevania Order of Eclessia
Wii- Super Smash Bros Brawl/ Star Wars Force Unleashed (Amazing!)

Magnetica Twist, Tetris Party, and World of Goo (WiiWare)
Tales of Phantasia (GBA)
Which game I choose depends on how much time I’ve got, and whether or not I’m on the move.
November 6th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
@Protector one:
“I just scored myself a GB Micro (which is an AWESOME device, btw)…”
Enjoy it! The GB Micro still gets trashed regularly on message boards - but it’s incredible to see just how tiny and portable the system is, and the library of GBA games is still top-notch.
One of the most unappreciated portable systems ever made? Could be.
November 6th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
wii-tetris party, world of goo, and ghouls and ghost.
xbox 360- gears of war and midnight tonight i will be picking up gears of war 2.
November 6th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
Little Big Planet
Dead Space
November 6th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
I’ve been in a short-game mood lately, no more than half and hour or so of playing at a time. I like long games, but I haven’t been in a mood to sit in front of the TV for an hour or more.
I think I was playing too many games (de Blob, Ocarina of Time) where I got killed off after the hour and had to repeat the whole thing again because there weren’t any save points.
So a lot of Super Mario Galaxy (just started playing it), Mario Kart, that sort of thing.
November 6th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Tales of Symphonia - GCN
The World Ends With You - NDS

Wii: Wario Land: Shake it!
November 6th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
@ Scott Clements: you can buy a USB adapter to get your Wii hooked up to a wired network. I think they’re about $10. I use one because my wireless tends to be unreliable and having a wired connection seems faster to me…
November 6th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Wii: FF:CC My Life as a King - I have downloaded all the extra caves so I am working on my second playthrough. Also playing Tetris Party.
DS: World Championship Poker - it is pretty lame but that is all I have right now. Will probably pick up the Million Heir.

November 6th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
Left 4 Dead. Are there other games out right now . . . ?
November 6th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
@benthedorklord,
uh did you just say MOTHER 3?
WHAT?!
November 6th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Sadly, I’m playing the game of life. I have to make car payments and get financial aid squared away, so I’m a bit too busy to play a lot of video games.
But if I had this thing people call “time,” then I would probably be playing Mega Man 9 and Bioshock (360).
November 6th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
WoW and GHWT.

I’ve been playing Mario Party DS more, man

November 7th, 2008 at 12:07 am
I am playing
PC: Sins Of A Solar Empire (Please try this, you will be amazed)
DS: FFTA2 (I don’t like it, but I want to finish this 08 beach trip game)
GBA: Mother 3 (English translated patch)
@ejamer
Tales of Phantasia (GBA) is the very worst version of the game. Go find the PS1 version…umm I am not suppose to encourage such behavior, but the 2007 fan made patch is a MUST have, if you are a fan of the game. I don’t think it’s that good of a game to begin with, don’t hurt me, lol.
November 7th, 2008 at 5:04 am
Wii: de Blob, Disaster: DoC
DS: FFTA2
360: Fable 2

November 7th, 2008 at 11:42 am
@RoyalRook:
Started playing Tales of Phantasia (ToP) mostly because I wanted an introduction to the Tales RPG series - and a portable version is just more convenient for me than jumping right into Tales of Symphonia for GameCube and the upcoming Wii sequel.
The active battles have been a fun change from menu-based boredom. There is plenty of control/customization to explore if you are so inclined. Side quests and a decent story have kept me interested in seeing just a little bit more — helped in part by being “new to me”, unlike the endless Final Fantasy remakes that I’ve already played previously. Although many of the RPG trappings for ToP do follow old-school conventions, the game also has plenty of cool innovations that “better” titles never bothered with.
If this is the worst version of a sub-par Tales RPG, then I can’t wait to move on to better Tales games.

can’t stop playing mirror’s edge demo- it’s fantastic.
i feel like it would be a great game for the wii though- let subtle movements guide you through the levels. it’s a very zen game and seem ideal for a wiimote.
November 7th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
@ deepthought
I was thinking the same thing about Mirror’s Edge. I love the demo, but some well implemented motion controls would be a great fit for the game.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
N64 via the Wii: Zelda Ocarina of Time
NDS: The New Super Mario Brothers
PC: Desktop Tower Defense, Fantatsic Contraption (http://fantasticcontraption.com/)
After scanning the above list I noticed there’s one important game missing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl. My kids still play this regularly when I’m not around.
