New Pikmin title still coming, says Nintendo

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 3:59pm by Derek

A new Pikmin game is coming, and it’s not the GameCube port.

Speaking to Kombo, Nintendo representatives have clarified a new Pikmin title is being made in addition to the GameCube port.

They are apparently two different games, easing concerns that the fabled “Pikmin 3″ is actually just a new version of the first game.

Shigeru Miyamoto announced he is “making Pikmin” at E3 in July. Nintendo has not revealed specifics regarding the new Pikmin, which did not make an appearance at today’s press conference.

I was never a big fan of the series, however I see why so many are.
A 3rd installment will be great, IF they make some changes to it so that it is not just a rehash of the original 2 with waggle…

Nintendo has confirmed that metroid prime and metroid echoes along with mario tennis, and chibi-robo will all be brought to the wii with new “improved” wii controls.
    Can not wait…

    Oh thank God.

I didn’t like the first Pikmin when I was younger, because of how strict the time limit was. But when I played the second, I enjoyed it enough to go back and finish the first game. I’d be excited to see both of those games jump to Wii along with Pikmin 3. The first two would obviously fit on the same disc. Plus I think it would show that the Wii could be a viable platform for more RTS games.

But if Metroid Prime and MP2: Echoes are remade for the wii with better graphics and taking advantage of the great control scheme that was featured in Corruption, will be great. The problem would be though, how would you make it possible to change beams? Unless they stack the beams this time around.
