Nintendo Discontinues Three Original 3DS Models in Japan

icewhite3dsNintendo axed three original 3DS models in Japan. Today we mourn the dearly departed Cosmo Black, Misty Pink and Ice White. It is survived by the remaining original 3DS colors — Gloss Pink, Light Blue and Metallic Red — and a plethora of special edition-themed handhelds available and yet-to-come.  I always thought Japan had too many hardware colors/themes anyway. It appears Nintendo felt the same way. After all, why focus on color variation when your product sells like hotcakes?

  1. Im a Nintendo collector. I have every system, handheld system, and ROB. Are there certain limited editions that are more special? Like with the 3ds. I have the Zelda 3ds system, but there seems to be other ones to. Whens the best time to buy a system if your looking for a special edition?

  2. @ Josh Warren I don’t think there is any right time to buy a system for that reason except when there are still special editions to buy. Gauge the public’s interest in a particular special edition and extrapolate into the future to determine the right time to buy.
