According to GameWatch, a Japanese gaming site, the new Wii U battery will last as much as 5-8 hours compared to the current battery. The original battery is 1500 milliamps, whereas the new is 2550 milliamps per hour.
GameWatch tested the new battery on Monster Hunter 3 with the brightest screen setting and power saver on. They played the opening movie repeatedly (why don’t I have that job) and found the battery lasted for five hours and 12 minutes in those configurations. Not too bad compared to the old battery. However, there is one other noticeable difference…the size of the battery. As you can see by the picture above, it us huge compared the original. Due to its size, it will sit inside the unit horizontlly, instead of vertically. Oh, and it is only available in Japan at the moment. If it is successful, I am sure we will see it as well. Maybe by the Holidays?
