The Micro, as with the DS, has sold very well in Japan moving 148,000 units in just six days. That means the system has outsold the Japanese PSP launch according to figures from Bloomberg. Very good numbers.
Any word on how the Micro is favoring in the US? It’s a little hard being that the system merely shipped on Monday, rather than be in stores so it could be as late as next week before US retailers get their stock in. Here’s to livin’ large in a small way.
Thanks JB.

that must be really frustating for Sony

To be fair on the PSP, it costs like 150 bucks more than the GBm….
Still…. 😛 @ Sony ! muhaha…Sorry 😉

It cost $150 buck more, but I wonder if Nintendo makes more profit off of the Micro than Sony get from the PSP. I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case.

Hehe true ! Didn’t think of that 😀
Poor Sony….I feel sorry for them……NOT ! 😀

Kind of puts a damper on the whole bigger, bader, faser, better trend the big guys seem to think is going to be the end all answer to next gen gaming.
Wait, I think I just heard a collective forehead slap at Sony and a sigh of relief at MS (for not having entered the hand held fray).

..so true

Nintendo would not put out a product that did not provide them a comfortable profit margin. At the end of the day, it’s all about making money. Sony, on the other hand is probably making very little on their technological wonder…..

I’m not surprised, the micro is small, efficiant, and has alot more good games, plus longer battery life. Plus it’s a gameboy people, you didn’t expect it to sell?
Princess Zelda
Another thing I found fascinating was The GBA Famicom Mini: Super Mario Brothers (Nintendo) – 187,000 (NEW)
That has blown my mind and I believe this is giveing us a taste of what the Nintendo Revoltion virtual console will do when gamers will be able to download the NES, SNES, and N64 games. I really hope nintendo will have sales charts showing what we are downloading and how many copies.

Softwares are just starting to pour in for the PSP. That said, it’s still early to tell that the Gameboy family has been dominating the PSP although I’d say yes, Nintendo handhelds are now the front-runner worldwide. Also remeber that their UMD division is doing very well. Let us not also discard the fact that the PSP is the most expensive device of all the current handhelds right now.
So let’s see in the coming months if Sony and the PSP will bounce back from these losses and “early defeat” from Nintendo.

It’s been almost a year, and the DS beats the PSP in Japan, and the GBA:SP beats the PSP out here in U.S.A.
