Little fun in Q1

From the way he answered N’Gai Croal when pinned with the game drought question, it was clear Reggie had disheartening information hidden under his list of names. Now it’s crystal, with Nintendo’s announcement of 1st Quarter 2007 releases for your favorite console named “Wii”. Leave the goose, take a gander:

Feb. 14 Wii Play with Wii Remote Nintendo
March 27 Disney’s Meet the Robinsons Buena Vista
March Bust-A-Move Bash Majesco
March Prince of Persia Rival Swords Ubisoft
March TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Ubisoft
March Bionicle Heroes Eidos
March Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII Ubisoft
Q1 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 EA
Q1 SSX Blur EA
Q1 The Godfather Blackhand Edition EA
Q1 Medal of Honor Vanguard EA
Q1 Sonic and the Secret Rings Sega

Wii’s only in its third month, but this is borderline pathetic. One game in February. The universally panned — by owners — Wii Play. Hope you really, really need the extra remote.

There is some excitement behind Sonic and SSX, but those are two cool guys in a party full of wallflowers and their arrival is still up in the air. Certain folks may find some good in this list, claiming WarioWare just came out, Mario Party 8 is almost here, or that they’re still stuck in the Water Temple. But i like to make the case that not everyone plays the exact same thing at the exact same time.

All considered, every system’s release list is sparse in the Q1. You’re right, that doesn’t make me feel any better either. Finish up that GameCube library, ya slacker.
