Many people know Korea is the place for competitive gaming, but you generally only hear about Starcraft leagues and counter-strike championships. Well, Siliconera has a brief write-up on a Korean television show that makes a spectator sport out of Mario Kart DS! Of course these kinds of “game-shows (no pun intended)” are nothing new to Korea, but the DS is, and its surprising popularity is highlighted in the article.
Run & Run Mario Kart DS is also an indicator of how popular the Nintendo DS is in Korea. The system has been around for barely a year and Mario Kart DS came out on April 5, 2007.
