Hello World, DSi runs unsigned code!
Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 at 5:30pm by WillIt would seem that pirating is a strong scene in Japan, as within three days after launch a programmer named Yasu was able to create a “Hello World!” program to display on the main screen of the DSi. This is looking pretty legit, and who knows how far this would go, but within three days an exploit has already been found. Marvelous…

cout << “Hello, piracy!\n”;
Let’s see if Nintendo actually has the capability to update the firmware now.

Wow - gotta love the irony.
In trying to remove the piracy from the DS they may have actually made it much easier.
Maybe they should have called it the DSr…

Unfortunately, most current-gen flashcards/action replay devices don’t work. This means no homebrew…. yet. Maybe this lead in hacking will lead to a custom DSi firmware that allows flashcards.

Unfortunately? This means you can boot stuff from the SD card slot.

Can anyone answer why/how “Hello World!” became the first thing you do in programming? I know it’s easy, if anything, why is it “Hello World!” and not something else like “Hi”, ya’know?

I bet this has to do with a .tiff file and using it to run unsigned code via the SD card… this could get pretty interesting.

This is why I want a DSi.
