Weekly Wrap Up

This weeks seems to have been a slow news week, so, I thought I would bundle a few items together, and gather some thoughts from the readers.

First off, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Wii U Edition, has introduced us to some new character costumes.  Players will now be able to wear the threads of Toad, Peach, Shiek, and Captain Falcon.  I think, after seeing the pictures, that Toad will be my choice!

Next up is an new Zombie U walkthrough trailer.  Every time I see new information on this game, I get uber excited!  In this video, we see our hero fighting his way to the top of a famous London tower.  To reach the goal, you must reach the top and access the helicopter.

Fans of Epic Mickey are undoubtedly excited about Epic Mickey 2, but might be disappointed to see that it will not support the off TV support for single player games.  However, in Co-op mode, it can be used.  I am not sure what to think about this.  Being able to play on the gamepad while someone (My Wife) watches TV is a huge benefit for the system.  It will also give me more game time.

It seems that there has been a bit of confusion about the HD quality of New Super Mario Bros. U.  A post on their website stated that It will be experienced in 1080p HD.  However, soon after, it was changed to just “high definition”.  The HD quality is great, but I am much more interested in the game itself.

Great news for the 3DS XL, Sales have increased by 89% compared to last year’s 3DS sales!  FOr a handheld that had a rocky start, this is fantastic news.  Some of the titles credited for the success are New Super Mario Bros. 2 as well as Mario Kart 7, and Kid Icarus Uprising, Star Fox 64 3D, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

“Nintendo 3DS XL continues to galvanize our Nintendo 3DS business. Hardware sales are up, software sales are increasing exponentially and the attach rate is growing stronger every month. With a great slate of upcoming games, including Paper Mario: Sticker Star, which arrives exactly one month from today, we like our position heading into the crucial holiday selling season.”

– Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing.

I also want to give a huge congrats to the team over at Pure Nintendo.  They have reached 111% of their goal, and are now on their way to filling that void left by Nintendo Power!

Finally, if you have listened to the Infendo Podcasts, you might have heard me mention that I have been fairly busy with writing lately.  I have a couple of short stories that have been published (One just waiting for print), am currently editing another submission, and am working on a couple novels.  Needless to say, my time is almost completely overbooked.  However, when writing a short story recently, I had thought about what I like best about video games.

Overall, I like the whole video gaming package,, music, graphics, game play, and story.  But, the story is what always grabs me.  It doesn’t have to be an intricate story line, my imagination is active enough to fill in the blanks, but there has to be a good story.  I guess that is why I enjoy RPGs so much.

With that being said, what game has your favorite story line, and what about it enthralled you into the game?
