Skyward Sword was one of the most polished titles available at Nintendo’s e3 booth, which is a relief to fans who remember the technical difficulties the title was experiencing at last year’s show. The Wii Motion Plus is absolutely essential to the titles gameplay. In the dungeon demo given at the show, Link faces off against an enemy wielding dual swords which have the ability to block links attack. To damage the enemy, you must swing the controller either diagonally or vertically depending on the position of enemies swords. If the foe has his swords on the right, Link must strike him from the left and vice versa.

The item wheel from Twilight Princess also makes it’s return, making switching between items a snap. In one of the puzzle section of the dungeon, Link must switch to his flying beetle item to hit a switch located above a door just out of his reach. Guiding the item is done by twisting the Wii Motion Plus around which makes the on-screen beetle move in tune with the motion of the controller.

I was unable to play around with the bird flying section of the demo today, but looking over the shoulder of other people, it looked like the flying sections will be a huge part of what Skyward Sword is all about.
