Nintendo confirmed today that a returning character has been revealed for Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The character? Toon Link.

Toon Link first made his official appearance on the Smash Bros. roster in 2008’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Link’s move-set was not detailed in any way on the official Smash Bros. website. He joins Captain Olimar and Pit as the returning characters from Brawl at this moment. While a returning character, the absence of a move-set has brought up some questions: Will Toon Link be simply a clone character in the vein of past Smash Bros. characters (Capt. Falcon/Ganondorf, Fox/Falco, etc.) or will he differentiate from the traditional adult Link?

Whatever the case, maybe this would be a great opportunity to give Toon Link those laser eyes that were hinted at the beginning of Wind Waker’s development?
