How would you rank the new Mario Kart 8 DLC tracks?

I know lots of things are supposed to be going through your mind at any given time, but it seemed there was only one thing on my mind this morning: the new Legend of Zelda x Mario Kart 8 DLC that arrived on Wii U. I spent as much time as I could racing the 8 new tracks, and this is personally how I’d rank them against one another: Number 8 – Yoshi Circuit (GCN) I didn’t play Doub...

Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 1: Details, trailer, release date

My one prediction for today’s Nintendo Direct involved Mario Kart 8’s first DLC pack: I thought it would be announced for release tomorrow, November 6th. Well, I was only a week off, as it’s officially coming on November 13th. The pack will contain three new racers: Link Tanooki Mario Cat Peach 8 new courses, includin...

Impressions on today’s Mario Kart 8 update and DLC

One of the first things I wanted to do when I woke up this morning was to see whether the new Mario Kart 8 update was available. I was somewhat surprised to find out that it was, but surprise didn’t stop me from playing the game in the new Mercedes-Benz karts that are now available as free downloadable content. Here’s a qui...

Link, Isabelle, new tracks and more coming to Mario Kart 8 as DLC

History will be made this November: for the first time in a Mario Kart game, Link (…from the Zelda series) will be hitting the tracks. The new character comes as part of a DLC pack that’ll also unlock a couple of new cups with brand-new tracks to race on. If my instincts serve me, the new cups will be a Yoshi’s egg cup of some sort and a Triforce cup. This Spring, Isabelle and th...

Mercedes-Benz DLC coming to Mario Kart 8 August 27

The free Mercedes-Benz DLC that was promised for Mario Kart 8 owners in the west finally has a solid release date: August 27. Nintendo announced this today and even included a trailer to go alongside it. And there isn’t just one new kart, but three headed our way. The first is the 2014 GLA, “the compact SUV of Mercedes-Benz...

The official Nintendo of America Twitter account has announced that the GLA-Class kart from Mercedes-Benz is heading to western copies of Mario Kart 8. Free Zelda themed DLC coming tomorrow for Sonic Lost World

Similar to the Yoshi’s Island-inspired free DLC that Sonic Lost World received at the end of last year, new DLC will be released tomorrow, March 27, this time in the spirit of The Legend of Zelda. This time around, Sonic will actually be dressed in the iconic green tunic, green hat, and boots that have become so recognizable as Li...

eShop details emerge, Super Mario Land and Alleyway rated for ESRB

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) are rather notorious for leaking titles before they were ment to be revealed, and thanks to them we now have a good idea of what to expect for next week’s eShop launch. The ESRB website has rated Super Mario Land and Alleyway for the Nintendo 3DS, giving each a rating of E for Everyone. No price has been announced for either title. In other eSho...

Nintendo + Best Buy = 3DS download service

Next time you walk into your local Best Buy make sure you bring your 3DS with you. Nintendo has just announced a partnership with Best Buy in which the retailer will provide access to “exclusive offers as well as additional entertainment content such as gaming extras and movie trailers.” The part about gaming extras has got me listening. Could the service perhaps bring additional wo...

Looking to the Game Boy future of 3DS

For me one of the biggest draws of the 3DS, as it was with the Wii, is the ability to play classic games via each systems respective virtual consoles. With the 3DS in particular, I can’t wait to get my hands on some classic Game Boy titles. It’s too bad the eshop won’t be launching until May, but two months isn’t too long to wait for the service. After all, we waited two mo...

DSi, and others, herald a glorious end to physical media

Don’t be fooled by the cameras and whatnot. The recently launched Nintendo DSi is all about downloads. The oft-rumored PSP2, which I’m 99.9% sure will lack a UMD drive or physical media drive of any kind, will be completely DLC-driven when it arrives this holiday season (and it will have plenty of Hannah Montana too!). The proverbial tide has already changed.
