Drowning In The Blue Ocean

From time to time, the Infendo mail slot will flop open and a reader submitted article will drift into our offices. Today we share with you an essay entitled “Drowning In The Blue Ocean” by Sean Malstrom. I wish someone would offer a prize, of piles of money, ribbons, and a piece of chocolate cake for a good, simple definition of the word: “Generation”. What an immense service it woul...

Wii don’t need DVD playback capability

Seems like putting a soothing blue light in the loading slot was a better business decision than including a pricey “blue-rayed” high def DVD player. Why? Because there’s more evidence out today that Nintendo was crazy like a fox for not including DVD capability in the Wii. Gamasutra: According to new research by The Diffusion Group, though 80 percent of console owners have the o...

DS owners get awesome features at baseball stadium

If you live in Seattle, bring your DS to a Mariners game at SAFECO Field.  You’ll be able to download special software that lets you watch the game on your DS, order food with a credit card, access player stats, view live scores from around the League, and compete with other fans in trivia and word games.  (Not sure about you, but my jaw is on the floor.)  If you’re a Mariners fan, ...

Monday Thoughts: The Reggilution/The Miyamoto-verse.

There was a question posed this weekend on Infendo radio of who has had more of an impact on Nintendo, Reggie or Miyamoto. My initial answer was that since being hired in 2003 Reggie has been the driving force for the rebirth of Nintendo and is the reason I am here so for me Reggie is the impact player at Nintendo. So a day goes by and I am watching my girlfriend play Super Paper Mario. I ask her ...

Wii is too loud

The volume on my TV runs on a scale of 0-100. When I watch cable, I set the TV at 50 and all is well. If I turn on my Wii, I have to turn the TV down to 10 or less before the Wii Menu’s chimes begin their droning and alarm the neighbors. My GameCube was similar, but Wii seems to be even louder. Is it just me, or is the audio on Wii just too loud?

Super Paper Mario (Wii) impressions [Updated]

From Kotaku: “It certainly lives up to the franchise’s name and on first blush I’d say it’s probably the best game to hit the platform to date, or will be when it ships next week… The graphics really sparkle on my big screen. The colors are vibrant the design unique, the aesthetic pleasing. The sound too has a nice new feel to it, I noticed several occasions where the...

Rebuilding Nintendo’s Million Dollar Man (DS)

We can rebuild him, they said of the SIX Million Dollar Man. Next Generation writer Eric-Jon Rössel Waugh believes the DS, for all its fame and fortune today, can be rebuilt into an even greater device tomorrow. While some of the suggestions are ones we’ve all been kicking around since the launch of the DS Lite (PictoChat needs an overhaul, rebooting after setting the clock = BAD), others a...

Miyamoto keynote at GDC 2007 – live blogging by proxy

I was hoping to proxy post stuff from GoNintendo, but their site is getting OWNED right now. That means I’m keeping an eye on Joystiq’s live blog of Miyamoto’s keynote speech at GDC 2007. As long as there aren’t any interruptions, I’ll try to keep this up to date with new information as it happens. All times are Eastern. Stuff from Kotaku gets a =k and stuff from Joys...
