Nintentunes, the best part of any 3-day weekend

It’s the weekend which can only mean one thing…it’s time for Nintentunes! This feature is for anyone who could instantly recognize the world 1-1 theme of Super Mario Bros. but who may be unable to do the same with the latest and greatest from Lady Gaga. Enjoy the classic tunes!

NES-Wizards & Warriors

Wizards & Warriors was developed by Rare back when they were still best friends with Nintendo. An action-platformer, Wizards & Warriors had some of the best music in the business. Although the sequal, Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II was generally considered the better game, the original still plays well because of its spot on controls.

SNES-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time

TMNT IV: Turtles in Time is a great arcade beat ”˜em up developed and published by Konami. Konami made a name for itself amongst American arcade goers in the 90’s with its ability to turn licences such as The Simpsons and X-men into fantastic 4-player experiences, and Turtles in Time was one of the best of the bunch.
N64-Quest 64

Quest 64 understandably gets a bad rap from many gamers for its generic story and confusing over-world, but there was something about Brian’s adventure that kept me playing until the very end. While I can’t say that I remember much of the quest, I still occasionally hum the overworld theme to myself which says a lot of the games soundtrack.

Gamecube-Metroid Prime

Metroid Prime did a wonderful job of making you feel that you were on an alien planet with its eerie soundtrack. As you explore Tallon IV, the music has the ability to make you really feel alone in the environment, something the Metroid series has really nailed over the franchise’s history.

Wii-Okami

Although Okami is a port of a PS2 title, the game is still among the top titles available on Wii, and the music has a lot to do with that. The game takes obvious cues from the Zelda franchise, which makes the game feel right at home on Nintendo hardware. The Nintendo DS has recently seen a sequel in Okamiden which was reviewed by Infendo’s own Chelsea.

Eugene lives in New Mexico and has been a life long gamer since getting his hands on an NES. Always partial to Nintendo, Eugene has made it a point to keep informed on all things Mario.
