Nintendo Extends Eternal Darkness Trademark

Nintendo has once again extended its trademark for the game Eternal Darkness, which was originally developed by Silicon Knights in 2002. This is the fifth time since the mid-2000s that the trademark for the popular psychological survival horror  game has been re-registered by Nintendo. Despite being faced with mounting financial issues and a lawsuit from Epic Games last year, developer Silicon Knights was believed to have been developing a sequel to Eternal Darkness. The project has since been believed to have been cancelled.

With the trademark for Eternal Darkness renewed for a staggering fifth time, does this open the door for Nintendo to take a crack at a sequel, even without Silicon Knights’ input? If so, which of Nintendo’s first-party developers (or outside ones) would like to develop it? Tell us in the comments below.

For years, he has purchased every one of the company's subsequent products (yes, including the Virtual Boy and eReader). It wasn't until he was a young teen when he bought a PS2 that he began to embrace cross-console relations, a decision he doesn't regret. When he's not gaming, Harrison is looking to break into the magazine journalism industry and realize his dream of becoming a features reporter.
