Is Ganondorf making a return in Zelda: A Link Between Worlds?

A bevy of  new artwork from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds has surfaced from Nintendo today, and one piece of art shows off what appears to be a familiar foe: Is that Ganondorf?

Yes, the the headline alone for this post may sound like a “Well, duh!” type of inquiry, but it does deserve some bit of discussion. The art depicts a character that bares comparisons to the Zelda franchises most vital antagonist (the clothing and the staff, for example), but with several differences (most notably the hair style). Nintendo has yet to confirm the identity of this character, but Zelda fans will sure to dissect every bit of this piece of art.

What do you think? Is this obviously the same Ganondorf we know, or is this a completely different character linked (no pun intended) to the villain’s Gerudo heritage? Tell us in the comments below.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is scheduled for release on the Nintendo 3DS on November 22.
