Diablo Junior for Game Boy Color

Diablo Junior for Game Boy Color

Diablo 3 has created quite a splash since it has been released.  Many fans were anxious to get their claws on the game, while just as many were disappointed with all of the glitches that accompanied it.

Even with all of the hype over the game, did you know that there was a Game Boy color version in the works?  Titled, Diablo Junior, it was expected to follow the Pokemon method and release multiple editions of the game.  This would allow would have allowed players to exchange/trade exclusive characters with one another.

The production of the game was set around the time frame of Diablo 2, and it was revealed that a Game Boy Advance version was also in the works.  The reveal of the game that “was to be” was announced by Blizzard biographer David Craddock.  Currently, Craddock is working on an unofficial history of Blizzard, called Stay a While and Listen.

Craddock had the following to say, ”

The team at Blizzard wanted to release three cartridges, each packing a different hero in the warrior-rogue-sorcerer vein as well as items that players would have to trade for in order to collect. Heroes started in a unique town before heading into dungeons and wilderness zones.

Diablo Junior was ultimately put out to pasture because of the steep production costs associated with developing handheld games.”

What would the future of Diablo been if the cartridges were released?   If the games were actually released for the 3DS, would you buy them?
