Capcom Teases More Mega Man

Mega Man has held a special place in gaming for me since I first played Mega Man 1 back in the day.  At first, I thought the game was easy…until I fought the level boss.  It was then that I realized there was going to be some strategy involved in this seemingly normal side scroller.  I was hooked.

Mega Man 6 has just released on the 3DS virtual console, and there are are more planned for the future.  According to Brett Elston, Capcom’s community manager, there is definitely more of the Blue Bomber on the way.

“Hope to have additional news regarding classic MM games hitting the Virtual Console soon. We’re on a roll with the 3DS and Wii U lineup, and I have a feeling there’s more on the way…” – Brett Elston, Capcom’s Community Manager

Could this possibly mean a new Mega Man is coming to the Wii U or 3DS?  If so, do you think that Capcom will partner with Nintendo for exclusivity?

As a side debate fr the weekend, how would you feel if Nintendo got the “old gang” back and re-launched a majority of the NES/SNES titles for the Wii U with sequels/relaunches/remakes/etc?  What if those titles were all exclusives to Nintendo?  Obviously, some of the developers are gone for good, but what if the titles returned?  Would it be a good move for Ninty, or would it feed too much on nostalgia?  This is a “what if” situation, but I thought it would be an interesting discussion.  My thoughts are that it would be great to bring many of the old/forgotten classics back and make them new again.  There would still be room for new IPs and sequels.  In fact, it could bring the additional sales that Nintendo is wanting to attract third party developers.  There is not right or wrong answer here, just good discussion and debate.
